Somehow, in this world, every person is the “Greatest Orthopedist”, “Greatest Dentist”, or “Greatest Medical Doctor”of all time because of their accolades and the famous people they treat. It amazes me how every person says they offer the “best of the best”considering how many doctors there are in our communities and world.
Do you want me to be honest and tell you who the best doctor is?
You are your best doctor and your body, when treated with the right fuel, movement, and function, can experience extreme levels of health.
It’s not coincidental that I haven’t taken a drug or missed a day of work over the past 10 years, as I have made my body my biggest investment, while experiencing a high return on investment.
Am I immune to getting sick? No, but my chances are drastically decreased based on the lifestyle I have chosen.
In fact, this doctor is so amazing that when you eat inflammatory or foods with excessive toxic oils or bad fats, it increases your cholesterol in order to adapt to the environment. Sound familiar in your blood work? (High cholesterol)
When you are overstressed or not taking care of your body it raises your blood pressure as a way to adapt to this stress. (High blood pressure)
When you eat toxic or dead food, you deplete your stomach levels and when your levels are too low, the next food items you eat won’t be broken down and will rot in the gut. Well, your doctor (body) is so smart that it tries to expel this food by creating acid reflux and getting this toxic food out of you. Hmmm, maybe that antacid is doing more harm than good?
When your body is in a state of stress, your doctor is so smart it does not release melatonin to help you sleep so you have difficulty sleeping. Not getting 6 – 8 uninterrupted hours of sleep?
What I want you to understand is that most symptoms, blood work results, or problems people suffer from are their inner doctor at work adapting to their stressful environment.
Am I saying drugs are bad? NO! However, we live in a country that abuses them and uses them for our poor lifestyle choices rather than taking them when we are in crisis care and absolutely need them.
Even though I invested a significant amount of time, energy, and money into my doctor (body) over the past 10 years, ever since having a child have I become even more disciplined and committed to doing better. My daughter and family mean the world to me and taking care of myself has to be my biggest commitment so I can not only be living while my daughter grows up BUT BE ALIVE.
Honestly, it’s time for all of us wake up and get connected with ourselves and, instead of relying on another person to keep you healthy, take ownership in your health.
Read blogs, read books, listen to podcasts, go to seminars, and keep educating yourself so you can make the right decisions not only for you but your family. Think you’re doing good? Great, BUT could it be better?
Begin eating clean foods that have life to them. Start moving more and getting your heart rate up every day. Start thanking people more often and telling them you love them. Get away with your family more often and get out of the office. Go on a walk in nature or get out in the ocean and get connected to Earth. Find your purpose or passion in life and go after it.
Your health is your responsibility and the greatest doctor is not some person with a degree behind their name; the greatest doctor is you.
Does this mean you should stop seeing your medical doctor? Absolutely not!
It means you begin to take ownership of your health and become responsible for it as that is not your medical doctor’s job. Their job is to help you when there is a problem, and they are great at it. Your job is to make sure there never is a problem and live the greatest life you were intended to live.
