This summer was the year before I graduated and the year before my dream would come true of opening my own clinic. I feel very fortunate to have learned this lesson early on, but ‘success leaves clues’.
While I was in all of these chiropractic clinics observing the doctor, I had a notebook where I wrote down what I liked and didn’t like about their systems, techniques, marketing, and other components of their practice. I would use these notes as a guide to create my own success BUT based on what other successful people had done.
Whatever kind of business you are in, there are a lot of people out there that are more successful than you are now, but you can be one as well if that is what you hope to achieve.
The key is looking for those people and learning from them; absorb the knowledge, get the wisdom behind their success, then create your own game plan.
The mistake people make is they listen and utilize strategies and tips from people who have failed not only in business but also in life.
* If I want financial success, then I am not going to hire a poor and cheap financial planner.
* If I want a successful relationship, then I am not going to listen to someone who has been divorced for five times.
* If I want health advice, then I am not going to take advice from some overweight person on numerous medications due to poor lifestyle choices.
When I want success in any category of life, I will look at people whom I admire and want to be like. Everyone has their opinion on EVERYTHING but the point that sticks are from the ones who have the life that I am looking to live.
Whenever someone is about to start a business the number one strategy that I tell them is to find someone who has what they want, then study them for a week. What do they do in their morning routine? How does their schedule look like? Who are their biggest contacts? How many hours do they work? And the list of questions goes on.
Unfortunately, I find a lot of people who resort to not only news outlets but also on social media (Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram) for their strategies on success in different categories.
I am in a couple of chiropractic groups, and it is sad to see how many people would receive advices on how to run a business from other chiropractors who are not successful themselves; those who can barely keep the lights on.
I am in a couple Community Exchange Groups throughout the country, and it is sad to see how many people take health advices from people who are not eligible to give certain health advices themselves, as they are not ideally healthy individuals.
What categories do you need help in? Who is that person?
I accredit most of my success to my coaches whom I admire, with the kind of business success I strive to achieve. I would never hire a coach or have a mentor who does not have the traits I want. My mentors and coaches challenge me and encourage me to be better than I was yesterday.
Use this chart to categorize your most important categories and what needs to happen in order for you to hit success in all of them. Some of them, such as ‘Business’, may need to be broken down, as I have a mentor for marketing and a mentor for the day-to-day operations.

Don’t forget on April 18th, I will be hosting a webinar on the number one strategy I use to grow 20% every year.
